The Freedom Center
Academy is now registering
students in grades 9
through 12 for the 2008-2009
school year.
It is estimated that close
to 50% of 8th graders in South Carolina will not graduate from high
school. This is a terrifying statistic. Our public and private
schools use a very traditional approach to teaching. Students
sit in desks in rows in a classroom where teachers lecture and give
reading assignments. Students are expected to memorize
fact after fact. They teach "to the test" so to
speak.
Freedom Center Academy has
a very different vision for education. We offer:
Contemporary approach to teaching! Collaborative learning
through investigation! Discussion-based curriculum!
Development of crucial critical thinking skills! Very
hands-on experience! Integrated studies!
Our target student is very bright but
just does not fit the mold of the traditional student. They
seem to be very "arts" minded. They love to doodle, play
music, and express themselves through clothing and hair
styles. They may have gotten into trouble or made poor
decisions. They just do not seem to fit in anywhere.
Parents have become frustrated but homeschooling is not an
option.
President James
Monroe best summed it up when he stated, “The question to be asked
at the end of an educational step is not ‘What has the student
learned?’ but ‘What has the student
become?’”
Freedom Center Academy has certified
teachers and abide by the SC graduation requirements.
Registration is $60 and tuition is $4200 for the year (plus
books). Scholarships are available.
