Founded in 1999 by David L Johnson, Hearts of Compassion Ministries, Inc provides
top-notch humanitarian food relief and specialized educational
tutoring program for Jr High and High School students and adult GED
training. We are a federally recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
corporation, as well as a South Carolina non-profit
organization.
The Hearts
of Compassion Food Bank originally opened in December of 2001 and
was in operation until April of 2004. Operated completely by
volunteers, over 228,000 pounds of food (by the way, this has a
retail value of over half a million dollars!) was distributed to
over 650 families. Many returned more than once for these
simple necessities that otherwise they would not have been able to
afford. Some of those served were grandparents that, due to
circumstances, were the sole provider for their grandchildren,
single parents struggling to make ends meet, families hit by
lay-offs and corporate down-sizing and Senior Citizens on a fixed
income.
Mission
The mission
of Freedom Center is to provide the
highest quality spiritual and academic education in a
Christ-centered environment in partnership with the faculty,
parents, and community through traditional and diverse
instruction. We also provide discounted food not only for
those that need it, but for any others who appreciate deep discounts
on quality groceries.
Programs
Angel Food Program serving 800 families per month. Freedom Center
Academy High School for 8 to 10 students. Tutoring services
